Patient and Family Resources
Sorting through the vast amount of information about cancer can be overwhelming. The Community Cancer Center offers a wide variety of resources to help you gather the information you need. While the internet seems to offer information on almost every facet of cancer care, we encourage you to speak with your medical team if you have questions.
Our Cancer Care Coordinator will guide you through your cancer journey. Your Cancer Care Coordinator will work with you as an individual and assist with connecting you to the resources and programs that will help you improve and maintain your quaity of life.
A Certified Oncology Social Worker is available to provide support for you and your family. This includes coping with a cancer diagnosis, treatment and survivorship; caregiver stress; helping children/teens better understand cancer; community resources and financial issues.
Our team collaborates with the American Cancer Society Patient Navigator program to provide information, resources and support to cancer patients and their families. This program works to bridge the gap for patients between initial cancer diagnosis, treatment and successful survivorship. Kelly Bakewell is the Patient Navigator for the Cedar Rapids community and can be reached at 319/247-6004 or 888/266-2071.
