How We Can Help You Achieve Your New Year’s Resolution

The Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center offers resources that can help you accomplish some common New Year’s Resolutions. From kicking that tobacco habit to living a healthier lifestyle, here’s how our team can help.

Quit Smoking

Lung Cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women, and smoking increases your risk significantly. In fact, smoking contributes to 80 percent of lung cancer deaths in women and 90 percent in men.

If you need a little extra help quitting, we offer a Tobacco Cessation Program in partnership with UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital. We offer group programs as well as one-on-one support and will help develop the right cessation plan for you.

If you’re a long term heavy smoker, ages 55-77, our Lung Check Program may be right for you.

Exercise More

For those who want to be more active in the new year the Community Cancer Center offers a wide range of exercise options. From tai chi to pilates and everything in between, you’re sure to find the right class for you!

For those who prefer more independent forms of exercise, we offer open gym three times a week. Still not sure what to do? Call us to schedule an appointment with our cancer exercise specialist. He can help develop a plan to achieve your goals.

Our exercise programs are open to patients and any cancer survivor, regardless of when or where your treatment was.

Eat Healthier

Our Oncology Dietitians can help you with perhaps the most common New Year’s Resolution, eating healthier. They offer cooking demonstrations and provide recipes to give you a variety of healthy meal options. Looking for a more personalized plan? They can also meet one-on-one to discuss your nutrition goals.
