Grateful Patient Program

A meaningful way to share your gratitude

People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.
Maya Angelou

There are countless ways our health care team makes a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families. It may have been the compassionate smile of a care coordinator who shared your journey…the exercise specialist who helped you grow stronger…a dietitian who
introduced you to cooking and savoring healthy meals…or the social worker who listened when you needed it most. If the Nassif Community Cancer Center team has played a special role in your care, your gratitude can make a difference in the lives of cancer patients in our community.

Our Grateful Patient Program offers meaningful ways to say “thank you.” Choose from four opportunities for giving or volunteering:

  • Guardian Angel Program
  • Support Groups that Move
  • The Healing Power of Art
  • It’s Better Together volunteer opportunity

Guardian Angel Program

Hearing the words “thank you” from a patient or family means so much to our caregivers. Your donation in honor of the special people
who made you and your families’ journey easier pays tribute to them while also helping to fund programs and services that support all cancer patients and their loved ones. Guardian Angel gifts can be any size – there is no minimum or maximum donation amount. A recognition ceremony is held for every Guardian Angel gift, paying special tribute to those who go above and beyond.

Support Groups That Move

You can help someone move beyond cancer to wellness for life when you sponsor one of our “support groups that move,” or sponsor an
individual patient’s wellness services.

  • Sponsor a creative art program, from visual art sessions to music activities, creative writing, and horticultural therapy, for groups or individuals.
  • Sponsor a wellness class or integrative therapy like meditation or yoga to help us continue to provide these programs at no cost to participants.
  • Sponsor the care of a patient for one year, from exercise and dietitian consultations to integrative therapies and creative art sessions.

The Healing Power of Art

The Healing Power of Art is a beautiful way to recognize the caregivers who have enriched your life. By choosing one of our timeless images for display in the Nassif Community Cancer Center or St. Luke’s Radiation Center, you also make a lasting gift for the benefit of cancer patients. Proceeds support Cancer Center services that are not reimbursed by insurance.

Volunteer Your Time With “It’s Better Together”

No one should have to travel the cancer journey alone. Our match connects a newly diagnosed patient with long-term survivors, giving them someone to talk to who has “been there” and knows what they are going through. The survivor serves as a “cancer mentor,” offering support, coping strategies, and understanding. After all, it’s always better together.
If you’re a cancer survivor who would like to volunteer with our program, please call the Nassif Community Cancer Center at (319) 558-4876(319) 558-4876.
