Tobacco dependency is a chronic condition.
Smoking alone contributes to 80 percent of lung cancer deaths in women and 90 percent in men. Compared to people who have never smoked, women are 13 times more likely to develop lung cancer and men are 23 times more likely.
The Nassif Community Cancer Center staff provides counseling and behavioral support to help you quit using tobacco. With so many options available, we will help determine the tobacco cessation plan that is best for you. We offer group programs as well as one-on-one support.
By quitting smoking, you will:
- Extend your life
- Reduce your risk of developing several diseases, including heart disease, high blood pressure, lung cancer and more.
- Feel healthier (You will cough less, have less sore throats and have increased stamina)
- Look better (quitting can improve wrinkles, teeth and skin)
- Have an improved sense of taste and smell
- Save money
